Walk Together in the PRIDE Hīkoi Community Walk
This year Gender Minorities Aotearoa and InsideOUT are excited to invite YOU to walk together in the Pride Community Hikoi! The hikoi is Wellington’s community organised march, which is run by the community elected volunteer pride board Out Wellington, that also brings you the Wellington Pride Festival and Out in the Park/ Out in the Square. It’s a non-commercial event, with a focus on being free, accessible, community driven, and inclusive.
”The Pride Hīkoi is a march for the youth and young at heart, with a goal of celebrating Wellington’s beautifully diverse community”
After we reach Out in the Park at Civic Square for the welcoming ceremony, we will gather in the Trans Community Hall (see below) and write down our messages for our younger selves, to be turned into a fabulous poster for young people all across Aotearoa.
- Where from: Waitangi park, along the waterfront, to Civic Square. The route is mobility accessible and all ages are welcome.
- When: March 16th, 10am sharp
- Where to: Out in the Park at Civic Square, next to the Wellington City Library on Victoria Street, Wellington CBD
